Welcomes You

I am pleased to announce that my Prayer Beads and jewelry will be available at a brand new store called Something New in the Park. It is located on Como Avenue down the hill from Luther Seminary and across the street from Bibelot and Pea in the Pod. We will be opening on February 4 with 50 artists representing many different media. I will be working from 1 - 9 on Friday February 24. Stop by and visit if you can. I will also be offering classes including prayer beads, beadwork techniques and Spirit of Knitting.
On Saturday March 10, I will be leading a retreat called "The Art of Peace." It will be a quiet day of Lenten reflection including making Circle of Love prayer bracelets and Labyrinth making and walking.
See the classes page of this website for information on retreats and workshops.

Sue Swanson MDiv, is a Spiritual Director who helps people find Sabbath time in their busy lives by teaching them how to practice spiritual patterns together. She calls her work Prayercraft, which is combining craftwork with different patterns of prayer. She is interested in how we can learn to use artistic creativity both individually and in a group to express our faith.
Sue teaches classes and retreats exploring spiritual concepts such as: prayer, breath, simplicity, creativity and Sabbath. Her beadwork has been published by Beadwork Magazine and Bead and Button Magazine. Her company, Purple Apple Arts, provides opportunities to explore traditional crafts including music, beadwork, collage, knitting and labyrinth walking. She studies traditional craft techniques in order to make them meaningful in our 21st Century lives.

Sue lives in Woodbury, Minnesota with her husband Roger.  She is the mother of two sons, Jeremy and Matthew and Nana of Victoria and Robert. She is trained by Dr. Lauren Artess to be a certified Veridatas Labyrinth facilitator. She holds a BA degree in Professional Communications from Metropolitan State University and a Master of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. She is a member of Spiritual Directors International and Episcopal Spiritual Direction Minnesota.

Sue’s artistic vision is: as the beads are woven together, the thread disappears, but its presence provides all of the underlying structure. Similarly, the Holy Spirit invisibly, yet essentially, weaves together the fabric of our lives and connects us with our spiritual community.
